A Peaceful Night

Another poem by speechless

The last of the sunlight's rays set beyond the horizon;

Peace composed itself around the world for once.

The whispers of the trees,

The flight of nocturnal wings,

The sounds of the night hush the world.

The moon listens, the rivers hum,

Darkness settles among the hills

The trees are quiet,

The grass does not stir

As Death passes along the pathway

Stopping by every entity

The elements of nature calmed.

Earth settles down,

The moon dances with the stars

Along the Milky Way;

The birds are silent and the mice make not a peep,

As Mother Earth settles down for her forever sleep.

What do you think of it? It is not as dark as most of my poems. Please, review and tell me what I can do to make it better, please.

I think you have some really good lines here.
Some of my favorites: The whispers of the trees,

This line: Stopping by every organism,...seems out o place...
the word organism just dosn't seem to fit with the rest of
the poem, the flow.

This is good. It has a very peaceful feel to it, which I assume is what you were going for based on the title. I like the way you described nature settling down. Well done.
