Burn

Burn

A Story by speckledbyrd

The world burned.  The earth was scorched.  The ashes were mine.  I shattered reality with a hum from the thing inside of me.  I was burning.  I was flame, living fire. Consuming the ground before me with terrifying ecstasy that warped the stone.  I was a god on this earth and I saw the fear in their eyes.  They would never forget what I am.  I will burn this memory into their eyes.  I rose, the flames following.  I turned in a circle to survey my blackened conquest.  The grass was flame, the trees dying, the sky was smoke and the world burned. I turned to the group behind me and took in their petrified horror. The family was frozen in shock.  Deirdre had tear tracks through the muck on her pale, hateful face. Neal took a cautious step forward, help crouched. “Jamie? What are you?” Neal asked.
