FlightA Poem by NicoleI wrote this for school, my experience on a helicopter ride over the summerAnxiousness, anticipation while waiting in line The closer we get The more I regret Coming back to see if there's room up there The nearer we get to the gates The sooner it approaches the ground We walk side by side to board I'm ready to turn back around Blades spinning above me It's windy and loud Before I know it we're up in the air We're leaving the sweet solid ground Soon a quilt of spaces Houses are small and they gleam Far down cars and people The distance is one of a dream Swoop then glide like an eagle A few sharp turns and sudden drops I cant believe I'm up this high Flying with airbrushed clouds and sun blushed sky Below; small time-forgotten bays Above; blades swirling in air In front of me; tangled hair Flying in all directions stray And next to me; my family, friend, birds flying in our path Excitement of being suspended in the sky shall last The helicopter holds the laughter Blasting breezes caress the smiles Sucked out the window; all our fears Eight minutes left of fun but every second all worth while © 2010 NicoleReviews
