winter must begin once a year

winter must begin once a year

A Poem by speakingcolors

i awoke

in the early morning,

much before the sun,

to the soft white blanket

of winter's first snow.

it lay where the earth once was

and in some places it was not,

hiding any sign of seasons past.

the trees quietrly stretched out,

their long crooked fingers

catching the plump white flakes

that still slowly fell.

they dotted the clear night air

and shined out like winter's own fireflies

in the blue moon light.

i watched

from the safety of my bedroom window,

taking in its beauty in solitude,

and for just a moment,

i was happy to be alone.

Lovely images you create, with a striking ending.

I can't tell you how much this insipires me. I love this, I always wished I could live some place where it snowed. I love how the lines slowly uncover the complete vision. In my opinion, the last line fits perfectly at the end.

Great write.
