The Story of Our Love II: Monroeville Sunset

The Story of Our Love II: Monroeville Sunset

A Poem by speakingcolors
"

The second half of "The Story of Our Love". I actually got inspiration from a picture I took of a Monroeville Sunset with my phone. The accompaning picture is the actual one I took.

"

I drove with you sitting next to me
My arm around you
You leaning on me
Our love starting but ending so soon

I yelled out as the car hit your side
My head on the wheel
Your blood on the ground
Reaching out for your hand but failing

I woke up to flashing lights around me
The wet pavement
It was raining down
I was fine by then but you were gone

I feel the warmth now in the summer
One year has since passed
It’s so hard to live
Hoping to see you but nevermore

I walk through the lifeless empty yard
So full of people
It’s not fair for them
Forbidden to leave but not wanted

I stop to leave your favorite flowers
You are now at peace
I’ve forgotten love
And what it is but I’ll ne’er forget you

And I’d give anything just to be able to sit and talk with you just one more time
To see you, to hear you, to watch you laugh so innocently
To have you, to hold you, to feel the love growing deep between us
And I’d give anything just to be able to see that Monroeville sunset again

Wow.... powerful.......I really like the way you extended your poem into two different poems ...you are right the second one does give some sort of closure .... but yet again ..... you never really do get closure when something like that happens........ did this really happen to you b/c we would have a lot in common if it did..... Well Done!!!
