A Ballad for Marty McGowndA Poem by speakingcolorsA very different style from my other writings. I really like it, though, because it's more than just a poem about a baseball game.Bottom of the ninth
The Big Man is up
The pitcher winds up
Don't worry, he's fine
A small little man
He's never been up
The pitcher winds up
'Strike one! ' calls the ump
The pitcher winds up
'Strike two! ' calls the ump
The pitcher winds up
The bat makes a 'CRACK! '
The runners are off
Out in the outfield
The score is now tied
A Shark grabs the ball
The ball hits the glove
The dust clears the air
Oh my, what a hit
The hero's raised up © 2008 speakingcolors
