Debauchery

Debauchery

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

The heartbeat that's drumming is inside my chest,
I wish it would cease, so I may pas this test...
I pray for an answer and I want nothing more
For the chance to prove how I am not a bore...
The darkened shadows hide my silent frame,
The window's coolness can soothe this pain
For I have watched you, day in and day out
Through too many lovers, and I have no doubt
You get what you want, there's no way around
Your word is command throughout this town...
But I can't help but wonder, if you do realize
The lack of passion within your own eyes.
I see all you see, I feel all you do...
I stay occupied when I know-know you.
I've seen so many lovers, debauchery galore,
And never stopped to call each of them 'w***e'...
There's no time for that left, time's running out
And when I'm gone, dear who'll keep the darkness out?
I keep my eyes open each time that you dream,
I swallow my tears and I know it's not me.
The darkened shadows hide my despair,
I don't mean to vent, I don't mean you don't care...
But sometimes I wonder, if you notice the thing...
The person who's with you through the thick and the thin.
