Choice

Choice

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

Were you ever given the ‘choice’ only to realize the choice had already been made by the ‘kind’ soul who offered it in the first place? I have. Sometimes you reach that crossroad and you need to make a choice: will you take the road not taken or will you play it safe? That’s one of the hardest decisions to make. Take a right and pick the road full of danger and hurt, or play it safe, have it hurt for a moment and move on to live freely? Do you put EVERYTHING you have on the table and scream to the world “This is all I have” or are you supposed to side step everything that you’ve learned or have been taught and fight for yourself? Isn’t fighting individually what covered us all 6ft deep in s**t? Hasn’t enough time been wasted trying to get the eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth? Have we not crippled ourselves well enough? I don’t know the answer. Maybe we have. Maybe we have not. But when the ‘choice’ you had has already been made, and your path snakes clearly in front of you, will you be able to take the first step and face your destiny? I hope so. I honestly hope so. Stop wasting time, and take the path that overflows with overgrown weeds, because as you pioneer through that journey, you will grow immensely.
