Last Breath

Last Breath

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

Watching simple dreams unfold on satin pillows,

Seeing the hope of my last breath escape

And she’s playing with the sanity of her own soul

Knowing her last breath us about to escape and surrender.

The lion is no longer a lion, but a wolf,

A canine element lost in the woods,

And she fell in love, fell in love again…

Terrified of promises broken at midnight.

An oath is no longer an oath but just words,

“I swear I will no longer leave you alone”, a caress

On the gentle face of a haunted girl,

A cursed rag thrown allover town.

No stripping, no sleeping, just simple conversation,

The vampire- creature isn’t so human…

But instead she sits in the corner, her knees squeezed tight,

Her eyes tense, and ready to fight.

Maybe one day her hero shall return, but until then,

She’ll stand to fight, like the Alpha wolf they know she is…

Knowing her last breath is his name,

Written in red.
