Sit By Me

Sit By Me

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

Come and sit by me on the next swing, let me look at you

My role model is covered in mud, fell because of drugs and booze

And I can sit here and wish my fears away,

Looking you in the eyes is a treat, should I say.

I’m afraid to look away, blink away this fragile line,

Throw out a rope and let me climb onto this roller coaster,

I’m curious and young, put my hand on the gun and squeeze hard,

Make fun noises and colorful splatters on the walls.

I’m still here, as your search party leaves,

I’m the rock that intercepts all those stupid waves of anger and pain…

And I suffer completely, in this puddle of bloodstained rocks and hardened mud,

I can’t push or shove, slowly suffocating, still unsure of the next move.

Sit next to me and let me look in your eyes, so deep, so complete

Perfect chocolate in sour disguise, have you realized yet

That my future unwinds with the speed of light

And I’m trying hard to keep my intentions disguised?

Wow, this poem is cool. I enjoyed it reading it. When I was young I wrote alot of poetry....my exwife through all my poems out. I was so disappointed. Last year when I was going through old stuff I actually found an old video tape. I pushed it into the VCR and there I was 20 years old and reading all my poetry into a camera. I completely forgot that I had done that! The point I am making is that you can get published or atleast maintain a record of your poetry. Never stop writing.

When those we love and admire fall from grace it is hard to accept, we look up to them so much we forget they are human too... a powerfully dramatic write... very impressive young lady.
