Romeo and Juliet

Romeo and Juliet

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

From the mountaintops and under balconies,

Sitting on the pavement looking empty…

Come hold my hand, wherever you may be

Pulling me closer and closer to yourself.

Forbidden at heart and not quite star crossed,

Running through the maze of feelings looking scared,

Come, my love, sit by my bed and watch the dreams

Play in our thoughts and souls.

“Stay away from Juliet” families warn…

But it’s only about us

This love is difficult, but it’s real

Nothing in the world can pull us away, we’re meant to be.

Sitting on the staircase, tears in my eyes,

Pulling on your sleeve, pulling you in my arms

Don’t go, now you’re mine

Let’s run away… this is our time.

Gone momentarily out of sight, but never memory,

You’ll be back in several months I’m sure of it

I’ll be waiting for a much needed return

And we can run away, we can run away… far.

Fighting for survival, patience running out,

Trying to escape the nothingness of it all,

And I’m sitting on the staircase crying yet again…

I’m waiting where you left me, Romeo.
