Pretend

Pretend

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

How many times have we been here before?

The doubts of the past are causing a war

I never have thought of if it weren’t for you

And your inability to come through.

Smiling and walking away as for the very first time,

Pushing back tears and pretending I’m fine…

But I am the type to try again and again

Pretending for you and pretending for them.

Laughing quickly at the second chance

Telling them all I found a new romance…

You know the truth or I hope you do

If it’s meant to be, it’s you.

I think it’s about time I should stop pretending

I know why I can’t let you go…

But my dear you there’s something I should let you know

Forever is ours. Yours and mine, now just come home.
