Substitute

Substitute

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

Sometimes I miss the moments where it was just you and me,

When the worries of today were just a whisper of a dream.

I miss the minutes when the nights swept by in silence

And the only chatting was about the boring classes we were in.

Sometimes when I look back at us I smile at the simplicity,

When silliness involved the misty worries of today…

I miss the joking we did well and played the stupid games,

When we could talk for hours straight, without a worry.

Sometimes I try to overlook the ignorant mistake,

When our awareness did not include the life we live right now.

When moments didn’t pass without some joy and laughter…

When dreams were nothing but just simple dreams.

Sometimes I think that if you told us but a year ago,

Our stress levels will change quickly

And what we value will expand,

That we’ll become what we became, we’d laugh and call you crazy.

Sometimes I miss my best friend and hate the pride filled vampire,

The silly best friend I adore and silly innocence, however I must say

That nothing in the world would make me change…

I would not substitute this for the world.
