Another Night

Another Night

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

She lays in her bed with her knees pressed against her chest,

Convulsing silently underneath scarlet sheets,

Eyes wide open staring into space,

Avoiding the horrific images that haunt her nights

With such conviction, one never sees these days.

Silver tears stream down her porcelain face,

Her hair falling in rings on her bare shoulders,

Rosy lips barely parted, murmuring silence…

Terrified of the outcome of her actions, she’s afraid.

Running away, protecting her mind; putting up

Wall after wall of ideas to keep it out…

Feeling the innocence escape through her nose,

Every breath being fatal.

Eyes open quickly to see the old room,

No killer in there with knives and guns,

No one around except for her one,

Keeping her close and warm…

Another nightmare has passed,

She’s safe.

this is again so powerfully written, you really know how to express yourself... the feelings of being vulnerable to the world and it being your weakness that others can use to hurt you but to have that one with you that makes you feel like no harm can get through, that is what I can feel from this excellent piece.

Feeling the innocence escape through her nose,
Every breath being fatal.

by the way love those lines.
