Angel of Death

Angel of Death

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

The angel of death comes in the room,

Tall, smug expression on his bony face…

Grimly, he sits on my bed and looks away from me,

And whispers slowly “How are you feeling, love?”

I look outside the darkened window,

See his expressions, his tear-filled eyes.

Sometimes smiling at his silly game,

Sometimes crying cold-dark tears.

“Please answer.”

His smile comes up and looks into my eyes,

He sees the tears that shall be spilled soon…

Opens his arms and waves me in his lap,

Snuggles me close into his bony chest

“I’m feeling better, love.” I lie to him again.

A kiss on my cheek from two lovely lips,

Held tighter and tighter no way to escape…

His grim expression, tightened in his grip,

He spilled two ice cold tears on my hot cheek,

And instantaneous I shivered quietly.

“My love, my breathing stitched up angel,”

He started in his lovely voice…

“I wish you would not lie to me for I,

Have no intention to leave you alone…

I have no intention to take you to work. Don’t lie.”

Tears spill from me, like thunderstorms to come,

Accumulating on his coal-dark clothes…

“I love you…” whispers escape…

My lips to his and no worry for passing the sickness…

“I love you too, my little girl.”

“I’m hurting, darling, I’m in so much pain…

I beg for night to come again and again…

I wish for you to come to me and say what you just did…

I want to see the truth.”

“Then love, I lied.”

I found this to be very interesting. The close relationship with the Angel of Death is something I haven't heard before. It sounds like an errorsome friendship. This was really amazing.

Yea, i agree with the Cowboy as well. Kinda frightening in a way, and the imagery was top-notch! Great work!

Oh my Laura this is really intense work... of coarse i see this particular angel of death not the reaper coming to take the person to the other side but a father stealing his child's innocents... this is written with such gripping images and emotion... oh my one of my favs from you.
