Tease

Tease

A Poem by Laura Sparkle
"

To my favorite marine.

"

“You’re such a monster”, but of course I’m kidding when I say that…

I cannot hit you even when you wish me to, maybe that’s it.

I cannot look for reasons beyond what I know to survive this

Lost and confused again, you show when my life is “Fixed”,

You prove me wrong and I enjoy that.

I could never mind your poisonous ways.

You keep your lips millimeters from mine, and brush them gently,

Look intensely in my dark brown eyes and smile

The longing inside them reciprocated in yours…

Not quite a kiss to make me smile, but a torture… you’re taken now.

Such a horrible person, I know… my darling marine I hope you’ll forgive me,

I let you slip through tear - wet fingertips, let you fall…

And allowed her to catch you, correct my mistake, and now… after some time

I look in your eyes and that light you had is gone…

Leaving behind, lurking in the dark many questions from me…

I miss that spark, and I miss your touch… those arms of yours should be mine, I know…

“You wish to know about her so you can compare yourself…

To try to understand why it’s her not you.” Truth spoken crystal clear

But how can I look you in the eyes and tell you that I hope she fails at this,

Some friend I am, I know… but truth is, I want you back… you should be mine.

Forgive me, darling but I’m pretty sure you belong with me.

I loved that line. And the rest of the poem really does convey the regret you feel....so sad, really. Don't know what you've got until it's gone, right? Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Maybe it will change, right? I like to try and stay optimistic.
