Growing apart

Growing apart

A Poem by Laura Sparkle

I’m going this way and you’re going your way,

It’s time to pick friends over family.

I’m taking a right at the next intersection,

It’s up to you if you follow or not.

I’m holding on to my best friend’s hand

And my lover’s heart is in my palms,

We have a road we have to take,

We just have to go that way.

“What’s going on? Anything new?”

Yes, everything but I can’t tell you…

My life made a complete 180 and now…

I’m just a stranger to you,

A face in the crowd, just a blur…

It hurts, doesn’t it?

To need me and for me not to need you.

This is a resounding poem of independence. You have broken free and moved on with your live to another degree and others will have to follow to keep up. I think the last two lines are really good although I was thinking maybe you could do with the last line saying 'To need me for being me, and me not to need you' Thats what I got from reading it anyway. Would be difficult to change and still have something that isn't too confusing.
Well done.

Very cool. I have felt like that in a relationship before!
