The one

 

I’ve never been the one to back off from a fight,

Not when it came down to saving the ones I care for.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth?

That’s going to leave us in pain… why would I bother?

 

I’ve never been the one to incite fear,

But I have been the one to cause troubles…

His wondering eyes, your ignorance…

And you ask why you lose, baby girl?

 

I care and that makes me dangerous,

I love and that makes me deadly.

I try and that makes me sharp…

I don’t back off, so why even try?

it seems we fight harder for those we love than we do for ourselves - backing off some on hurt heaped upon us - but never allowing that to happen to anyone we care for. I loved the last stanza in this piece:

"I care and that makes me dangerous,
I love and that makes me deadly.
I try and that makes me sharp�
I don't back off, so why even try?"

filled with some honest and blunt truth. nicely done.
