My warrior

My warrior

A Poem by Laura Sparkle
"

For my one true and only one. :) Wherever he may be, wherever he may go.

"

There were words, news that you may go away,

We never discussed this, but I have a bad feeling…

Please don’t go… Iraq’s too far away,

I can’t feel your heartbeat I’m terrified.

I can see your dreams, bullets and guns and death,

The dark angel seems to have a place set up for him…

I’m afraid, don’t go, please I beg of you…

I have a bad feeling about this…

Don’t leave me here deserted and petrified,

I don’t have a choice, I support your decisions.

My heart beats for you, it may save your life,

So take it. Take it and hold it with you.

Please stay with me, and hold me till dawn,

The moon’s up and her majesty is overwhelming sometimes…

I think of you often, my angel, my love.

Don’t go… stay with me. Or take me with you.

The dreams were horrendous, I was so afraid,

Guns shooting above my head,

Bullets flying everywhere…

People falling to Mother Earth, dead.

If you go, I want you to know,

I don’t want the dog-tags at home,

I don’t want them to come in the mail with a letter,

I can’t and I won’t live without you.

I respect your choices, my love,

I understand and cherish your goals as if they were mine,

But if you have a choice, I’ll marry you, just don’t go…

Always remember I can’t live without you, but I’ll always be there by your side.

This poem of yours speaks so eloquently of your love for your special one. It speaks so very loudly of what so many of us feel for those who serve in Iraq or Afghanistan.

"If you don't stand behind our troops, feel free to stand in front of them." .....EXACTLY!!!!

Wow Laura your words of love to the one you love is so very touching, it must be hard to have someone you love in that situation worrying everyday about their safety... Very emotional piece... I feel your pain.

A wonderful piece, raw emotions that have stained this page. A powerful use of words.
