Never-ending

Never-ending

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

I believe I'm evolving
I've always been the cold type,
I don't cry much
but here I am
letting my eyes well up
at the mere mention of you
or your small, chubby face
or how you tried to hide
behind your knotty hair
because your lip trembled
when you knew I was leaving
your bralette is on my floor
and it only ghosts the reminder
of how hard it was to leave you
when I still am so in love with you
when I tell my friends and family,
I know they will ask why I did it
and I won't give them an answer,
because I don't have one
I believe I'm evolving
I've always been the cold type,
I don't cry much
but here I am
and they're never-ending
