Gelatin

Gelatin

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

I cannot get rid of
this empty feeling

it's as if I took
a tablespoon in my hand
and hollowed myself out
like a past-ripe cantaloupe

Time is like off-brand gelatin
and I gobble it up

Perfectly capturing the feeling of emptiness. The hollow ache that something is amiss, but what? This has a really nice feel to it, the words used and the way it almost demands the reader to read it slowly and in hushed tones. Thank you for sharing.
