Prokaryotes

Prokaryotes

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

everything I look at
is buzzing with atoms

surfaces with leftover heat
from the hands of others

twitching with cells
stinging with mites
swarming with little life spans

everything around me
is so very alive

so why aren't I?
