Detriment

Detriment

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

You made yourself at home
in the sulcuses of my brain

Took off your fraying sneakers
within the hallways of my capillaries
Left your clothes clumsily heaped
amid the spaces between my teeth

Forgot to use a flimsy coaster
under the glass in my stomach

So please just clean your dishes
and take your detriment with you
