So Be It

Throughout my entire

high school career

I have always opted

to write about

the sad things

rather than prompts such as

"Describe the best day of your life."

or

"What is your favorite memory and why?"

or

"If you could go anywhere in the world, where would it be?"

Sadness is easier to write about

because it lasts longer

And if that earns me a trip

to the guidance counselor,

then so be it
