Longer

Longer

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

I haven't genuinely liked someone
in quite a long time,
and after the previous years' events,
it is very refreshing

Like splaying down across newly-washed sheets

or stopping a gas pump exactly at $30.00

or plucking leftover material from a dryer's lint trap

And this all makes me
want to look at you longer
