Little

Little

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

Love
is when your parents stare
down into your cedar crib
to watch your little rib cage
breathe in and out
Love
is when your grandmother
carries you to the kitchen
and sets your little bum
on the counter
to watch her cook lunch
Love
is these insignificant little things
stepping on your heels
