Masochist

Masochist

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

You are the panicking doctor,
standing in front,
of a screaming child,
with a syringe,
and you are the heavy anticipating breaths,
that fall between youthful lips,
during a game of hide and seek,
and you are the paranoia,
after hearing the house settle,
while home alone.

You are a masochist.
