HIGH TIDE

HIGH TIDE

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

I LIE TO YOU NEARLY AS MUCH AS I LIE TO MYSELF BECAUSE I'M ALWAYS WHISPERING IN MY OWN EAR THAT I DON'T MISS YOU AT ALL BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT YOU'RE THOUSANDS OF MILES AWAY WITH THREADS AND WIRES THAT ARE STILL CONNECTED TO MY ARMS SOMEHOW AND I FIND MYSELF TOUCHING MY STOMACH WHILE PRETENDING MY HANDS ARE YOURS AND THAT DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING BECAUSE I DON'T MISS YOUR BUGGY BLUE EYES OR YOUR OVERDRAMATIC TENDENCIES AT ALL AND I'M LYING LIKE A STRANDED SEA CREATURE AFTER HIGH TIDE

Nice rapid expression of emotion :)
I like that you didn't hold back and I enjoy pieces that don't hold back with being honest- if that makes sense haha :)
Overall, I liked it :)
