SCATTER-BRAINED

SCATTER-BRAINED

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

YOUR NUMBER IS GONE AND SO IS YOUR CONTACT BUT ALL I WANT TO DO IS TELL YOU THAT I MISS YOU BUT YOU'VE LAID ME TO REST AND COVERED ME WITH HIMALAYAN BLUE POPPIES AND PRIMROSES BUT I WISH THEY WERE FORGET-ME-NOTS AND MY KNUCKLES ARE BLEEDING WITH THE SLIMEY TRAIL OF LEFTOVERS THAT THE PADS OF MY FEET ARE LEAVING BEHIND WHEREVER I WALK AND THE ONLY ADJECTIVE I KNOW HOW TO SAY IS SCATTER-BRAINED
