Louder

Louder

A Poem by Emmy J.M. Powell

I will always put up the front,
that I am stronger than I look,
but if anyone took,
the time and special care,
to really look,
they would see that,
I am a scared little girl,
waiting for someone,
to teach me how to walk,
and talk and eat,
because I stutter on my words,
and rarely leave my house,
and eat unfathomably,
when I’m alone,
and no one is shouting,
that unprecedented fact,
louder than this little girl is.
