linearity

linearity

A Poem by elli
"

you both tend to infinity

"
you're in love with the idea of tears cutting salty tracks into coffee
to make a bittersweet sting on chapped lips;
god it's just so romantic to think about,
to the whisper of post-rock
while you're alone in your room

caffeine leeches into your blood
slow syrup
drops
lines of warmth
and maybe some penance for your sins
or some cleansing
to be alive again

and then
your phone lights up in your periphery

there's never really 'lonely'
there's always you
and her

you
and her

it's like the tide; you made the sea
you both come in and out again
and you throw yourselves on the rocks
crashing like sleep like waves like a spiral,
limit cycles,
back and forth up and down,
you,
and your girl

every memory that shadows your mind
and every feeling you can't define:
you're getting caught up by what you left behind
