I'm Calling This Contradiction

I'm Calling This Contradiction

A Poem by Nicole

I believe in lovewithout the forced smile

that rides

tight across the face like medical tape

I believe in the babies that pop

from limbs that wrap

without casual interest, but rather intent

to recreate and embody

what I think a fixed smile

is supposed to mean

in the first place.

I think this will be a good poem when you are done with it. at present the meaning is a little harder to access than it need be, because of the way you have chosen to present it. Some judicial line breaks and punctuation to allow for pauses would clear this up quickly. The central theme of the poem is a lovely one, and I believe you'll strengthen and adjust the phrasing toward that end. So, it's not there yet, but could be quite lovely, and telling, in the sense that the morality and spirit of it is nice to see.
