The story begins with a girl Naina who keeps falling in love several
times but fails to find a true love. If you thinking that this story is all
about love then you mistaken. This story rather speaks the about the simple
,quirky ,fun-loving girl whoturns out to be a mature women .From a very
early age she was perfectionist or we can say here her guardian spirits
were protecting her from losing her mind over other things and most
importantly from losing her virginity or maybe she was the chosen one of a
god who has been send down on earth for some special purpose. These were
all the possible reasons which kept hovering over her head .Her deep
interest to learn and know about various subjects not only generated a
keen sense of enquiry in her but developed her habit of seeking justice
everywhere. On the other hand if we look at the other side of her character
then she is a very a flirtatious girl. She keeps getting series of
proposals till she goes out of the school after her twelveth .Hardly any
boy was left in the whole class who has not fallen in love with her
.Everyone seems to be mesmerized by her by disorganized manners. Well, as
she was young she was enjoying her position, being the centre of attention
.Here , at this point we can relate this story to the mock- heroic
narrative poem by ALEXANDER POPE, the rape of the lock where Belinda always
remains centre of attraction but was continuously being protected by her
guardian spirit always keeps moving her attention from one male person to
another so that she falls in love with none. Naina’s case was also somewhat
similar to Belinda. On teachers’ day if she wore a red and black
combination salwar suit, boys wearing the same colour dresses blushed and
became happy in their mind .Once she happened to wear a R lettered pendent
on the occasion of Christmas in school ,the boy named Rahul started
blushing. He thought may be she is interested in him .But time passed on ,
days turned into months and months turned to years and she grew up. Naina
was in college now ,she went to Calcutta University to do her English
honours. She has always been very simple all throughout her life, infact ,
her coming to Kolkata was never a part of the plan. She and her best friend
Lipi had decided earlier when they were in class eleven that they will
study days and nights till class twelve , then once they will pass with
good results ,that will be sufficient to fetch them admission in nearby
colleges of Bihar but god knows what ties has drawn Naina all the way to
Kolkata. Whatever it was , she was happy because she was not going alone
she went along with one of her school friend Deepika. She thought it would
be easier for her to adjust with the new city life as she had her friend
along with her but she was mistaken because Deepika had her own separate
friend circle and mostly liked keeping out whereas Naina had in her mind
that studies were of primary importance than any other things, so she never
wanted to join Deepika and neither Deepika asked her to join. Fear of the
new place , lonliness and the grief of losing a friend and the feeling of
being left out disturbed Naina immensely. She tried her best to be like
others and probably she was making a mistake because people simply loved
the way she was. The girl who doesn’t even properly know how to cross the
road all of a sudden sums up guts to go out and go against the conventional
norms of the society. In her mind she had already decided that whatever
happens or whatever hindrances might come in her way ,she will accomplish
all her work for which she has come so far leaving behind her family. As
days passed by she grew up to be a more mature and less emotional person.
But it is not always possible for a girl to manage everything single
handedly however strong she might be. Naina’s first attempt was not to
mingle much with the city life but to be under the guidance and care of her
relatives and family members who lived in Dumdum while Naina’s both
college and pg was nearby Kalighat. But society is just like crab trying to
pull every other person who wants to make an effort to rise up. Similar
thing happened in Naina’a case. She was feeling lonely ,so, she decided to
go her aunt’s place. She decided to spend her weekends holidays there .No
sooner did she reach there than she broke into tears complaining about
everything and went to say with what difficulty she managed things ,but was
the aunt the right person to be trusted upon. May be no, because as soon as
the next day she left her aunt called her mother and tried to express how
worried and concerned she was about Naina. She told her that Naina was in
miserable condition and also suggested her to take her away from Kolkata
because according to her Naina was not able to adjust to the city life. The
aunt even went on saying that Naina was not happy here at all so it would
be better for her to take a fresh admission in some college of Bhagalpur.
The aunt was doing all this without actually knowing what storm it can
bring in the life of that girl . She was doing all this possibly to shook
off the responsibility under which her parents have decided to leave
Naina there. Naina’s mother after hearing all this lost all hope. She was
broken down completely because her only dream was to educate her daughter.
Naina’s mother was married at an early age so she wanted her daughter to
enjoy her life of freedom .She tried to fulfill each and every wish of hers
and though born in a traditional bihari family her mother never allowed her
to enter the kitchen , neither, asked Naina to help in household works.
She only wanted her daughter to be highly educated and to lead a life of
happiness. It was only because of this reason that inspite of so many
objections being raised from families about Naina going away from home to
study ,her mother remained obstinate and convinced everyone that Naina
should be allowed to go out not only for education but also for developing
a ability to adjust with everyone. Naina’s mother called up Naina ,
scolded her and ordered her not to discuss about her problems to any of
the relatives, because , Naina’s mother had the a fear deep in a her heart
that if Naina returns back then it would bring disgrace to her family.
Naina’s mother had no other option except to scold her daughter sternly
because she wanted to make her daughter strong ,she wanted to save the
future of her daughter. So , this plan of Naina of taking the help from
family members also went in vain. Next morning , it was the first day of
the college ,she went to the college with her friend Deepika. Naina was
nervous but she tried to hide her nervousness with her stern looks. To her
utter surprise the first day, she expected that ,as it was a girl’s college
so they might ask her something to perform ,sort of ragging, but no, they
simply asked one question that did she has any boyfriend or not, if yes,
what was his name. That’s all. Already Naina was worried about her troubled
life so without knowing any possible answer ,she was dumbfounded. When
asked the second time she all of a sudden from somewhere got indomitable
courage and said in a loud voice “YES” ,”YES”. All eyes were fixed at her
,as if they have seen a goddess with four hands. Naina started feeling
very confident and happy from within ,possibly because for the weird manner
she was telling the lie ,and she could feel that everyone were getting
influenced by her. Then her voice became little milder and she repeated
that ,”yes, I have my boyfriend and his name is name is Swastik”. Deepika
started ogling at her. Naina herself did not know from where she found this
name. As days passed by things became more fluid and easy to handle for
Naina. Within a week she decided that she will change her pg and shift to a
new one. Deepika was annoyed but Naina this time was insensitive. In the pg
she soon made new friends and was happy. She even became friendly with some
of the common friends of her roommates. Naina was staying along with four
other girls, among whom one was Riya . Naina was very close to Riya and
that’s how she came to meet Vir. Vir was Arun’s friend and Arun was Riya’s
boyfriend, so that’s how it is. Riya and Arun always tried to build up a
relation between the the other two, though in this case Vir seems to have
interest. On the other hand if we look at Naina , she did have much
interest because she has got a very good childhood enemy cum friend Rana,
and she enjoys his tip exerts. But may be fate wanted her to change her
path or may be sufferings were waiting for her. After sometime Rana feels
that he is falling in love with Naina but fears that his approaches might
be denied thus he creates a false girlfriend to envy Naina . Naina
eventually understands that but waits for him to come and accept ,on other
hand while this false story gets too prolonged and Naina loses all hope
and is again doomed with a feeling of loneliness . Quite at this time Vir
comes and stands by her side and she feels the world is all rosy and
romantic. But does all romantic tales have a perfect happy ending. Possibly
, no. Because this is not the end ,they were madly in love, though they
used to stay in pg’s still they made sure that most of the time they are
spending together ,they cannot imagine world without the other. Things even
went up to marriage. Both were happy, they were enjoying a heavenly bliss.
But the problem is when we put too much sugar in our coffee , it’s not
worth drinking, then we have to throw it . Same thing , happens here. Vir
‘s love for Naina grows so much that he cannot tolerate her going anywhere
without him, anyone looking at her by mistake. His over possessive nature
broke away all her good ties with her friends even with her cousins. He
wanted her twenty " four hour hours which was not possible for any normal
person. Naina accepted everything silently because she doesn’t wanted to be
alone and she was in the fear that she might again start missing her friend
if her ties with Vir breaks due to any reason . So, basically, what Naina
called her love for Vir , was not love ,she was doing a charity service.
Naina never knew how to say “no”,so when Vir approached her she could not
deny ,just for sake that it would break his heart. She was hiding herself
from the fear of falling in love with the disguise of being in love. She
listened to all the insults silently ,without uttering a word. It is
Wednesday, a fine clear morning ,three years have passed by, now she is a
graduate ,she is about to leave Kolkata ,so she informed Vir that she will
be going for shopping so she wanted Vir to join her but he said that he
cant come so Naina said that then she will be going with one of her college
friend Ishita. He became angry and slammed down the phone. Naina had to go
because she wil be leaving the city by tomorrow, that is ,Thursday. So,she
and Ishita met near the bus stand and were about to take the bus to MAIDAN.
Suddenly ,a thief came and stole away Naina’s purse. Everyone standing
there shouted ,both Naina and Ishita ran after the thief but the thief took
a another bus and went off. Naina broke into tears , Ishita consoled her
and suggested her to immediately lodge a complain. Naina said she felt all
the more because she added if Vir would have been here then situation
wouldn’t been so worse , moreover, with the purse she lost her college
identity card, ATM card , voter card and some loose cash of RS2000. Soon
they called up the bank manager to lock the ATM card and it was locked and
then Ishita called V IR to come to the police station because they were
waiting for him in the police station as they have to file an FIR. Vir
first expressed his grief hearing about the situation and then said that he
is coming immediately. Then after sometime he informed Naina not to wait
for him and to complete all the formalities because is on the way and he
might be late due to traffic. By the time all the formalities have been
completed he came running to Naina and seeing her crying hugged her and
said that “what was the need to lodge an FIR??? Purses and the belongings
lost doesn’t come back but if some problem arises one might never get a
government job, so ,dear, from next time don’t go to police station without
asking me.” Naina looked up with her kajal smeared dark , blood red eyes .
She removed his hands from her shoulders and just said “I’am tired.” Vir
couldn’t speak anything ,may be ,he was conscious of his own guilt or he
was afraid of Naina ‘s complaining eyes . In the evening Naina said she is
busy with her packing so it won’t be possible for her to meet . The next
day before leaving she called all her friends and her parents and switched
her phone off. Vir kept calling her but her phone was switched off atlast
he left for the station but by the time he reached the train had already
left.

A very interesting story but the layout of the text [formatting] makes it hard on the eyes to read in one stretch. It might be good to have paragraphs and spaces and also re-edit to cut out extraneous material.

The characters and the scenarios get one's attention and so does the storyline. The ending leaves one thinking that this is a strong woman with a mind of her own.
