Staged Illusions

Staged Illusions

A Poem by Soul Sessions

Contemplation of all the things I was made to hate
This type of mindset is what I have grown to distaste
It isn't me but a seed that was planted
Because my boundaries were taken for granted
Thoughts that are not mine
Wasting so much of my previous time
These are yours and yours alone
So I release them back to their appropriate home.

So I thank you for who you turned me into
Never to go back to the cage in that zoo.

My confidence rising I know my worth
The trials I've been through, pulled myself out the dirt
Treated like an animal without a rightful owner
Threw me into this cold world and made me a loaner.

I've dried my eyes and now their opened wide
No surprise that I see you for all the lies
You're pathetic and dark and I choose the side of light
My soul now free from your shackles ready to take flight.

So take a bow for your show is now over
No longer do I have to look over my shoulder
It's the final act, the curtain call, no ovation just dark
Don't forget the animal you created has a bite but no bark
Working in silence now in the shadows I dwell
Thank you for all that you did for me in your living hell.

The stage lights dim as the scene fades to black
No encore for you, no chance to come back
In this new act, my spirit will soar
A story of strength, not bound anymore.
