Rising from the Cage

Rising from the Cage

A Poem by Soul Sessions

In the cage, I feel this rage, that makes me rip out!
Turn the page, light the sage, and let's just chill out!
The anonymity of this trauma no longer silenced,
Clear vision when they go shut, staring at my eyelids.

No need to speak when you let forgiveness leak,
No longer meek, standing on what's bleak.
This is so tongue in cheek, it makes it easy to speak,
The truth rises to its peak, leading me on a streak.

Honesty is a commodity, with a parent blind to their trauma acting modestly,
This policy is causing more harm than good, you played me like the lottery.
Battle scars worn on my sleeve because I couldn't leave,
I'm here to take back what's mine, and this time I'm not saying please.

Your program that you're on, it is your own,
The place I grew up, isn't what I would call my home.
I will create a new place, vibrating at a higher rate,
This old energy is easy to replace, there's no debate.

My love is unconditional, to those around me medicinal,
No harm done, I'm responsible to build something compositional.
I am sorry you are so sorry, living in a sad world with a downward whirl,
I forgive you for not giving and letting mad words take over your world.

Rising like the dawn, I shed the chains, reborn,
From the shadows drawn, my spirit newly adorned.
Strength in vulnerability, my heart open wide,
In the vast expanse of hope, I take each stride.
