september.

A Poem by soulremedies

I was wearing violet mascara on the day you left.
a violet river flooded my face,
and discovered home within my left clavicle.
The mascara stained everything in proximity,
as if this particular emotional breakdown
needed its own trademark:
obnoxious purple streaks on the wall,
on your t-shirts, on my mother's persian rug.
You always knew how to make a scene.
I laughed and cried about it on the bedroom floor.

I could feel the urge to try and laugh behind the tears. I especially liked the line "as if this particular emotional breakdown needed its own trademark"

It's time to remember that kind of September...oooops, I got carried away! Our protagonist left mascara all
over the place. Apparently, the boy-friend of our protagonist caused considerable heartache and heartbreak when he walked out the door. She both laughed and cried on the bedroom floor.
It seems that he has too much control over the relationship to the point of leaving you in emotional ruin.

this is very raw and very real, you have clarity and insight and ability to see beyond just the emotion but into what is surrounding it, the mascara blending in as great metaphor.

Pain melted onto a page. An honest revelation floating on a somber melody.
Thank you for sharing, dear poet.
