Chapter 1 WinstonA Chapter by SoulfireChapter 1 Winston The sleek black glass of the coliseum reflected a twisted image of him as he stared into the impenetrable onyx expanse that was the veil over the house of government of The Fourth Empire. Every week, he had passed this testament to the empire’s power and every time his mother had gone pale and increased their pace until they were past it. “Hurry up Winston!” He winced. His mother had always insisted on calling him Winston. His name in its entirety was Winston Paul Montgomery and was typically known by his middle name. “Winston, if we are late then your uncle will have a nervous breakdown.” “Wouldn’t be the first time.” Paul murmured. His uncle lived in an apartment filled with books and was always nervous around Paul and Paul was not sure if it was him or if his uncle was just always nervous. The apartment complex where is uncle lived was a few miles from the coliseum and was covered with the same black glass as the coliseum. As he entered the building he had the feeling that he was being watched so he turned and caught the eyes of a man that was seated across the street apparently he had been sitting there watching them approach, or was he? Now it just seemed like he was looking at the building itself. Paul shrugged and continued into the complex.
