Deep Desire

Deep Desire

A Poem by Michael C. Sahd
"

An old poem.

"

On a cliffs edge grew a stout and hardy apple tree.

Beautiful red apples riddled its branches, but

On the highest branch over the cliff by the sea

Hung the most beautiful and succulent red apple.

I looked to this curvaceous fruit longingly.

But it was plainly beyond my reach

And if I tried to climb to the top of the tree

It would probably be the end of me.

Why do I desire that which I cannot take?

Even when I already have one in my grasp

Even when the bitter one I wish not to forsake

I desire the one which none but the tree can have

So below the tree I come to the conclusion

That the one that I desire so desperately

Will hang far above from my compassion

And torment me ever so slightly.

I agree with Xanthar. Very original. Well done.

Very creative and original my friend. I truly enjoyed. Wonder philosophical look at limitations, and our constant want to overcome them...and finally, accepting them.
There's one part I'd like to point out for CC:

"Will hang far above from my compassion

And torment me ever so slightly."

I think it would be more clearly stated if you dropped the word "from."

Great piece!

Cheers!
