Angels and Aristocrats
A Poem by Sorry Sits Here
An Icarus-esque poem. Those of us with so much to offer and to learn, often succumb to the tight clench of greed, which ultimately leads to our demise.
Bewildering silence speaks softly. Alluring with promises of quick profit, With nothing to gain. With nothing to lose a confused boy Turns his life to the sky. A questionable outcome. A life once lived by artisans Hastens to a disfigured smile. All the while he spreads his wings. All the while an angel whispers "There are some things you should know." And with a sudden lack of control, The boy let go. Now watch him as he falls to the ground And the irony soaks the soil and turns a deep red. Once again the silence is fed by greed. |
