Oh for those days

Remember a time when life was simple
When war was only a card game
Goodbyes only meant until tomorrow
And the only drug you knew was cough medicine
Cough cough

Those days you use to play the staring game
The silent game, attempting not to laugh
Trying to suppress a giggle.
Ha-ha
hehe

You didn’t have to worry about
Walking out on the streets
Hearing the gunshots, it’s no longer safe
Bang-bang, that’s all you hear now
Bam bam

Oh for those days
When the ice cream truck, was the highlight of your day
Ring-ring
The sounds of bells on your brand new bike.
Ring-a-ding ding

When we all knew who we were supposed to be
Oh for those days.
Yet we absolutely couldn't wait to grow up
Now growing up is our worst fear

You're not giving yourself enough credit because as a writer this was an excellent poem of thought with no errors what so ever of Grammar and spelling that effect your style. You did a magnificent job and I especially loved the way it was written when at the end it expresses your feelings and so many people felt this way and even I feel the ending you have for their was time when we all wished to grow up but, we fear and the future that lies ahead with it. So your writing was not a total fail so keep it up always leaving room for improvement.
