Thoughts

A Poem by Soren

A lost key where could it be I just had it yesterday
Search where I might not a trace in sight, all to my dismay
I know it's here, it must be near, my mind races then wanders
I return to the same spot, but there it's not, other possibilities it ponders

My mind races I've checked all the places where it is usually kept
Despite each thought it is not and I wonder where it was swept
With a million rants checked my pants, sought it under the chair
I searched the drawer where I left it before but still its not there

Low and high, I even searched the sky, all to no avail
Looked far and wide under rocks outside but success does not prevail
Went through pages in books in all of the nooks searched garbage's debris
Now in the night under a street light I search where I can see
