Hands that grasp

Hands that grasp

A Poem by Soren

Jealousy a slave owner's chains that hold their possession tight
Love seen as something owned, not a gift but a right
Birthed out of greed, DNA its seed, twin brothers of revenge and hate
No prisoners escape, they all suffer rape as their servile fate

Forgiveness the key that will set free the one that it gives
Unlocked shackles of hate, no longer freight, guilt falls through love's sieves
Believing men do the best they can, given the tools they possess
Breaking chains of blame, leaving no rancor to you oppress

I read a lot about slavery in college (American history major) and I've seen many movies as well....you portray the slave very truthfully and honestly...the are are so many terms one could use to describe what the slave owners did to them...we all know they F***ed them to death, then raised some of their kids....it's down right humiliation and torture and who gets forgiveness??? even when they are unshackled, the hatred endures...and also the blame...this is such a well written piece Soren, so disheartening yet honest....
