Amazing! The fragile nature of love and the perception of the truth are things that writers never stop writing about and I love how you captured it. Great work!

Dear Soren
When are young, love and truth shine, we tell all, whether upbeat or not....we have rosy cheek and mostly a rosy outlook on life
Yet as the tides turn and we age we get wrinkles, our skin turns rough...we get crabby because everything hurts...and we tend to conceal that which is close to our chest...we even lie a bit because we are vain and tend our minds tend to decay...young love is so innocent, but time does not allow it to remain
Warmly, B

Soren,
The greatest deceptions are almost always internal. Planted by something someone said, someone you like, respect, so you want to be like them and assimilate their attitude, their accent, the way they laugh, thier politics and even religion, and then say "It's who I am." I wonder how many live long enough to find the real self inside.

Yes I deliberated about the inclusion of a nonexistent word improperly conjugated but left it because it emphasizes the illusion of truth of what should be a proper conjugation (brought) to the the vernacular of the uneducated and how we all are uneducated as to the truth that is an infinity or zero and not humanly comprehensible. Thank you for noticing

I love this poem! It beautifully captures the fleeting nature of love and truth, weaving in stunning imagery of smoke and mirages. The reflective tone gives it a timeless quality, making the reader ponder the illusions we hold onto. Spectacular work!

life will strip away our innocence if we allow. excellent write with meaningful, capturing imagery.
reminds of what my muse thoreau wrote some time ago, “The question is not what you look at, but what you see." and
"Children, who play life, discern its true law and relations more clearly than men, who fail to live it worthily, but who think that they are wiser by experience, that is, by failure."
