A Poem by Soren

Plastic music, disposable song
robotic voices, auto tuned when wrong
lip synched projections spliced and corrected
industry loved no one objected

Recycled tunes picked from time's trash
discarded retro memories that once were a smash
artificial flavored, soul free to not fatten is the goal
digital is the way, vinyl sounds better although

tinkly tunes played on miniature speakers
mechanical booms by engineer tweakers
mumbled lyrics meet deaf ears
no one cares it's the vibrations that gets the cheers

Although I like most new songs considering my age, I can definitely understand this when I look at the songs from the past. You are right. Sometimes some songs really do seem like they came out of the trash. (I say this even though I am a songwriter myself) we can never reach even a quarter of the spirit of the past... I don't know why, I think lyrics have become even more meaningless due to the fast-paced consumer culture, people and relationships have become empty. We want to throw away lyrics as quickly as we use people. And considering that we forget the lyrics of most songs today after a few weeks, this thought of mine may be true. But we all have a 70s song in the back of our heads, don't we?

Dear Soren
Quite a satirical view on modern music, especially the electronic boom music that the Gen-Z's love...to me these new sounds are terrifying to my ears...and I try to stay away from it....it's certainly not like the 60's 70's 80's music that is actually MUSIC, not monotony... you do an excellent job of satirizing this new mode...
"mechanical booms by engineer tweakers"...great writing!!!
