A Poem by Soren

A life we write, the print dim and bright on pages of time
Each day a leaf, joy or grief, chapters both sad and sublime
Some prefer to drink, dark dried thoughts of ink remorsefully refined
Some drink, the bright white spaces behind  until they become blind
With nothing to gain would you choose pain or contented glee
Of pages read through, which you open is up to you, choose carefully

you've hit it out of the park once again. opening your page i have to take a deep breath because i know some powerful writing is ahead. but this just blew me away. the internal rhymes, the reptitions, the cadence had me smiling -- even though the topic is quite morose.
it is an empowering message, although one with a hint of pessimism. we can choose what to think and how to live, but many choose drink, hopelessness, grief. if we only turn to the right page we would realise the fullness of life, but we are stuck on a different chapter.

great analogy life as a book written by the reader. - No one wants to read a book without contrast - in answer to the questions without gain what would you choose? If there is nothing to gain I would probably say instead of a life of quiet desperation maybe try a different book. I've had a couple books of life that had to be abandoned and start a new one. Not easy but necessary and therefore intentional -carl

Good writing and deep thought in this one.. The important thing to remember is we do the writing. Circumstances may not be ideal, but how we deal with them is up to us.
