Flies buzz

Flies buzz

A Poem by Soren

Graveyard of an old love
Sprouts ghosts from an empty tomb
Over severed hearts, time dirt shoves
Rot's wafting fumes become perfume
Hatched larva spread germs
Maggots of passion soon fly
Love's grave sprouts worms
Memories cleaned with lye
Undertaker of dreams
Scavenger of hope's buried  bones
Awaken me from siren screams
Open my eyes, to forget their ghostly moans

upon first reading, i thought this was a simply describing a scenery - which was done very well. gory and noxious, something from an 80's horror film. but i missed the first line: 'Graveyard of an old love.' now what does this mean? it could be a failed relationship or a love that has faded due to time or distance. however one reads into it, it is clearly a source of great suffering for the persona. and indeed, it is a feeling most can relate to, and how we wish 'to forget their ghostly moans.'
