Tree of life

Tree of life

A Poem by Soren

Ghost of beauty comes and goes in time's wind that blows
a spirit smoke that flickers then fades in memory's open glades
fleeting sunbeams of the past, broken rays that do not last
new wonder worn by age, now a yawn on life's critic's stage

Naive virgin angel lust falls in wrinkled clouds of dust
ashes of the sun, fall as worm eaten beauty undone
peacock feathers painted bright turn gray in failing light
ravished by age's blight, turn to black in the night

Rough bark does hide another beauty deep inside
Strength of iron tempered in rain an uncut hard wood grain
twisted knots giving perfection hidden charm beyond detection
weathered scars marks of beauty giving shade to others your duty

There is beauty everywhere for those who take the time to look. We had a tree felled last year because it had become a danger and was too close to the house. There was more dignity and beauty in the decay and dying than I witnessed at any other time. Love the poem and the metaphor Soren.

This poem is a tree I would never want to see cut down.
It has such a wonderful momentum of beat and description.
