Fallen leaves

Fallen leaves

A Poem by Soren

Laying fractured on the ground, a broken limb bound
Rope of hemp with a noose, dead dove, above a mate coos
When In a predator's eye a bird will fly or die
Wings will reach the sky or in cruel maw lie

A time of human abuse sanctioned slavery the excuse
He'd run away before, next time death was swore
Healed from lash's hurt with life's end he did flirt
A new pile of dirt, torn bloodied shirt

Ghosts of birds that soar, left were the shoes he wore
Whispering breeze's secret drown in the baying of the hound
No one grieves over fallen leaves
Blown away their sound, no tracks left to confound

Death misery relieves, to others it deceives
Fading footsteps on broken ground, never a body found

Man's inhumanity, cold and raw ... will we ever learn?
Felt like I was in the scene. You captured it!
