Soft or hardA Poem by SorenTwo lumps of ore dug from earth Emissions from mother's sore, equal from birth One squeezed gently, smelting hit or miss Warmed not heated immensely, cooled with a kiss A blade made sent me, too soft, I did dismiss The second I vowed intently, not to treat like this Hardened in the fires of misery, quenched in the waters of want Tempered in life's pillory, forged blade sharp and gaunt Honed on grit's subtlety, polished fine edge of a savant Future leaders of society from adversity's font
