Once there was a time

Once there was a time

A Poem by Soren

Feelings inside feelings
Thoughts inside thoughts
Colors inside orange peelings
The smell of forget me nots

A snapdragon a child’s toy
Fallen castles of sand
A scuffed knee on a little boy
Ink designs on a small girls hand

Black turns to violet
Violets become blue
A curly haired young pilot
A grasshopper zoo

another great example of wordplays. here, smooth succession of lines that rub like silk on the tongue. this verse, held together by the theme of impermanance, a truth, one that i am keenly interested in. everything fades like the colours inside orange peelings. even a tattoo wears out over time. the last line really got me thinking. it reminds me of something TS Eliot said about there being no hidden meanings inside his poetry. it looks out of place yet somehow fits perfectly.

You have captured the various stages of childhood right up to adulthood in this splendid poem, dear Soren. I adore the simplicity with which you ink these stages and the various memories associated with them. I love the visual detail in the poem. It is amazing the things we remember from childhood and never forget them through all the remaining years in our lives. Outstanding write! I wish your poem was longer, dear Soren. I would so love to read more. I love this poem! Thank you for sharing it, dear friend...
